MUSEUM OF NORTHERN ARIZONA POWELL BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS

KCS restored the 2,913 SF Powell Dairy Barn, originally built in the 1930s, and transformed it into the new home of the Museum’s Biology Department.  Exterior improvements included replacing the shingle roofing system and adding insulation below the new corrugated metal roof system.  The complete interior renovation included new exposed colored concrete flooring, structural modifications, and closed cell spray foam insulation within all exterior walls.  High levels of green building strategies were utilized including the installation of new skylights and windows for daylighting as well as the use of high-efficiency light fixtures and in-floor radiant heating for thermal comfort and control.
