The 17,283 SF, LEED Platinum Certified Easton Collection Center holds a significant portion of the Museum’s collections, including anthropological, biological, geological, and fine art pieces for the entire Mogollon Rim. Green building strategies include a 14,000 SF green living roof system, use of locally obtained materials, and energy-efficient heating, cooling, lighting, and window systems. This project was the recipient of several prestigious awards, including being recognized as the Greenest Building in the nation!
In April 2015, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) announced that the Museum of Northern Arizona is one of five museums awarded the 2015 National Medal for Museum and Library Service.
