KCS served as CMAR for the rehabilitation and construction of an intermodal transportation center within the historic El Garces hotel and train station in Needles, CA. Originally built in 1908, El Garces was considered “the Crown Jewel” of the entire Fred Harvey chain. KCS is recreating the façade to replicate the original conditions using new stucco, storefront, doors, and windows.
Scope of work included construction of an entrance, lobby/reception areas, exterior walls and internal hallways, upgrade of utilities to the site, upgrade of surrounding streets and parking lots, and a new fire suppression system.
