Kinney provided the design and installation of an elevated, grid-tied solar photovoltaic system totaling 10 kW DC at Cottonwood Airport. Kinney utilized crystalline panels and a single inverter to tie into the APS grid. Kinney had to work closely with the FAA and Airport Commission to meet their guidelines for construction on an operational airport site. Kinney bored DC conduits underneath the runway to avoid interrupting any of the ongoing operations of the airport.
