Mountain Line Commercial Driver’s License Course

Mountain Line and Northern Arizona University partnered on the new federally funded CDL course to meet public transit workforce development objectives, recruiting and training new drivers. Coconino Community College also utilizes the course to support their CDL training program, accommodating both Class A (commercial trucking) and Class B (bus) licenses. The CDL Course is Phase I in a multi-phase plan on NAU’s campus that will eventually include bus storage, maintenance, and an electric charging facility. Scope items included removal of existing vegetation and trees; hauling in over 11,000 CY of import material; SWPPP ADEQ services for all possible construction runoff mitigation; installation of HDPE and RCP storm drain mitigation piping to a new retention pond, concrete paving 8” on top of the pad for bus storage; paved entrance from the maintenance facility parking lot to the future bus storage parking lot, placing rip rap edged around the concrete paving (PCCP); and seeding the slopes to allow for erosion protection long term. Kinney self-performed all earthwork, storm drain installation, underground fiber duct bank, clearing, grubbing, removals, SWPPP, erosion control, and demolition.
