Kinney served as Design-Build Contractor for the construction of Mountain Line’s new 2,281 SF operations center, bus-wash pad, 927 SF garage maintenance bay, 13,500 SF shade structure, and 5,880 SY asphalt concrete parking lot. Kinney self-performed the earthwork and site utilities, which included installation of: 240 LF of 24” CMP storm sewer with end sections; 265 LF of 3/4” domestic water line; 265 LF of 4” DIP fire line; 230 LF of 1 1/2” HDPE reclaimed water line; 500 LF of PVC sewer line; Pressure sewer main; and Lift station and associated electrical and site utilities.
The facility’s location downhill from the wastewater treatment plant required Kinney to install a lift station 20 feet deep to pump the sanitary sewer uphill. Multiple specialty shoring systems were also brought in to complete the project. Green building strategies utilized include waste management and recycling, paperless documentation, and use of low VOC-emitting products and materials. Project funding originated from a partnership between Mountain Line, FTA, ADOT, and the cities of Cottonwood and Sedona.
