This was an emergency project initiated by NAU due to the existing tunnel concrete lid failing throughout the inside of the tunnel. The scope of work involved excavating the existing pedway to expose the top of the tunnel, performing selective sawcutting and removal of sections of the reinforced tunnel lid, drilling and bonding rebar dowels to the remaining tunnel walls, forming a suspended soffit deck with edge forms, tying rebar, and repouring the tunnel lid. After the concrete cured, the tunnel was backfilled and the brick paver pedway was restored to the pre-existing condition.
